Jessë Valentine Portz, Sustainable Architect
Fascinated by architecture since childhood and state licensed since 2002, Jessë Valentine Portz (JVP) is a registered architect in California and Hawaii. Specializing in progressive architectural design focused on healing the environment with green construction and living buildings is her way of improving the landscape for everyone to enjoy. As a sustainable architect using deep ecology and careful site adaptation and site integration, she strives to design homes, churches, temples, offices, factories, hotels, et cetera that bring joy to the human spirit. Using the model of a spacecraft, JVP seeks to redefine Le Corbusier’s concept of a house as a machine to a new level where a sustainable home is symbiotic organism for living.
Jessë Valentine’s recent built work can be seen on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. Jessë Valentine was the sole architect of record and designer of comfortable contemporary tropical homes with fabulous views, indoor-outdoor living and natural ventilation.
With more than 17 years experience in the field of sustainable architecture, Jessë Valentine has worked as a design project architect, project manager, and construction manager. In 2002, she gained her architecture license in the state of California and has been a licensed architect in the state of Hawaiʻi since 2005. She holds a bachelor’s of architecture from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco.
In San Francisco, Jessë Valentine worked as junior designer with the Mark Horton Architecture and Studios Architecture firms, staff architect with Fee Munsen Ebert and project manager with Architecture and Planning. Projects included a data center in Santa Clara, retail including Sephora shops, The Sharper Image, and many large and small-scale commercial offices and residential homes. In Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, Jessë Valentine has gained experience as a project architect and architectural designer working with Franklin Wong Associates and Peter Vincent Architects private consulting firms. Work at Franklin Wong Associates focused on school renovations for clients Kamehameha Schools, and the State of Hawaiʻi. At Peter Vincent Architects, Jessë Valentine specialized in the design of custom luxury homes in Kāhala, Kailua, and Hawaiʻi Kai on the island of Oʻahu.
